Our Local "Dump"
Chittenden County Waste District website is an excellent resource to learn about recycling in our area. The transfer station (a.k.a "The Dump") is actually quite close to The Fort with convenient hours. If you want to know where and how to get rid of appliances, computers, tires, brush & grass clippings, paint, cardboard, etc. Their website is a great place to start.
I know that sometimes our blue box is overflowing. As I am going out to the Lange Farm Hannaford's on Saturday, it is a simple & quick detour to the transfer station just off the corner of Route 2a & Susie Wilson Road. You are normally assessed 50 cents to dump the contents into the big bin for recycling. No need to sort it, their new process handles that for you.
I have always found it quick, easy and worth the 50 cents per box or the couple of dollars to properly dispose of an old appliance or furniture. It beats looking at my dishwaser or old coach sit by the dumpster for a weeks while Alliance lines up the labor and truck to have it removed ($$$), then properly disposed of ($).
If you have questions, I have found that the CWSD staff friendly and responsive.
